Deadline set for Suarez
AJAX have given Liverpool three days to make an acceptable offer for Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez.
Manager Frank de Boer yesterday insisted the Dutch club would not countenance any bids tabled later than January 29.
Suarez has informed Ajax that he wishes to join Liverpool, but the Eredivisie side remain adamant that he will not be allowed to leave unless the Merseysiders match their £30m valuation. Liverpool have thus far offered just £12.7m, a sum labelled "disrespectful" by the Dutch team.
"I do not want to be surprised on the last day of the window," said de Boer. "It would be better for Ajax if he stayed for another half a year, as it would give us more time to find a replacement.
"It is difficult to replace a player who gets you 25 goals a year and so many assists."
