Daryl Janmaat reportedly broke two fingers after punching a wall as Newcastle United went down to a 3-1 defeat at Southampton on Saturday.

The right-back fell awkwardly in the first half while attempting to intercept a pass and picked up a groin injury in the process.

Janmaat, who was subsequently substituted for Siem De Jong, is believed to have vented his frustration at the injury in the dressing room and punched the wall, damaging his hand.

The Holland international left St Mary's wearing a sling and both injuries are being assessed ahead of this Saturday's clash with Swansea City.
