Cox ponders move from Baggies as Blackburn table €2.4m bid
SIMON COX is considering a €2.4m move to Blackburn Rovers after sitting out West Brom's friendly against Barnsley on Saturday.
Negotiations are ongoing between the clubs after an initial offer for the Ireland striker was rejected, but they are believed to be moving closer to a deal.
Celtic have also been linked with Cox, and Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray, who brought the Irish international to the Hawthorns, is understood to be weighing up a bid.
"Simon was originally in the squad to travel but a club has put a bid in for him," confirmed Baggies boss Steve Clarke.
"That bid wasn't accepted but he didn't feel he was quite right to play. He didn't ask not to play -- he said he wasn't quite right.
"He said he needed time to think so I took the decision to not include him. It was my decision."
Clarke is insisting that Shane Long is going nowhere.
"There has been nothing regarding Shane," he said. "There have been no bids and he is not for sale. His future is with us -- 100pc."
