Confirmed: Man United release Zlatan Ibrahimovic after one season at Old Trafford
Man United have opted against renewing Zlatan Ibrahimovic's contract, with the star striker now a free agent.
It was widely expected that the Red Devils wouldn't take up the option of a second season in Zlatan's deal after he suffered a significant knee injury late in the season, with Ibrahimovic now expected to move to the MLS.
The news was confirmed this evening as the Premier League published the list of players who each club are releasing. Ibrahimovic is the only player that Man United are letting go.
Jose Mourinho is expected to confirm Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata as Zlatan's replacement in the near future, with Man United close to agreeing a fee with the Spanish giants for the 24-year-old.
