'Tired' Hazard rested for Europa League opener
Eden Hazard has been left in London after complaining of tiredness, as Maurizio Sarri prepares for the start of Chelsea's Europa League campaign.
Hazard has made an excellent start to the season but did not fly out with the 21-man squad yesterday.
The Belgium international has scored five goals in five appearances, including a hat-trick against Cardiff on Saturday, but has told head coach Sarri he is suffering from fatigue following his exploits at the World Cup.
Hazard had just three weeks off after the tournament in Russia before returning to training shortly before the start of the season.
Gareth Southgate recently revealed his fears over Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane facing burnout due to his workload and Sarri has opted to leave Hazard behind. He is expected to return for the game at West Ham on Sunday.
Sarri said: "Eden Hazard told me that after the national team and after the match against Cardiff he was a little bit tired so I thought it was better to stay and to rest." (© Daily Telegraph, London)
