Chelsea want to see whether John Stones asks to leave Everton before submitting a fourth offer for the central defender.

Chelsea have had a third bid of £30 million turned down by Everton and are now considering their next move.

Chelsea are willing to go higher to sign Stones, 21, before the transfer window shuts, but are waiting to see whether their latest rejected bid prompts any reaction from him.

The Premier League champions believe that they have demonstrated their commitment to Stones with bids of £20m, £26m and £30m, and are now interested to see whether the player is equally determined to move to Stamford Bridge.

Everton continue to insist publicly that Stones is not for sale, but they could struggle to hold on to the England international if he makes it clear he wants to go.
