Rafael Benitez has never been superstitious, so he is not in the least bit concerned by Newcastle United's miserable Monday-night form ahead of the trip to Burnley.

Newcastle have lost 10 Premier League games in a row playing on Monday evening, but Benitez dismissed talk of a curse.

The club have not won a game on a Monday in the top flight since December 2012 and while Benitez is adamant there is no need to do anything differently, supporters will the game with trepidation.

"The records are there to be broken, so we have to change that," said Benitez.

"You change the manager, you change the players, you change the environment, you change the league, you change everything.

"The record is fine, but it doesn't matter."
