Arsene Wenger accused of a very petty gesture towards Jose Mourinho at UEFA coaching conference
Both men have been sparring on Premier League touchlines for the best part of 10 years but it seems that the distaste between Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho is as strong as ever.
The verbal grenades launched by both men over the years have been plentiful, with the Man United manager often coming out on top - both in terms of trash talk and on-pitch results.
A certain mellowing of the heated rivalry could be expected after a decade of feuding but this anecdote about a recent UEFA coaching conference doesn't speak to that being the case.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, some of Europe's top managers gathered in Nyon for a talk where Alex Ferguson was giving the introductory speech.
Mourinho was reportedly one of the last to arrive and asked if he could sit in an empty seat near the front.
"No, that is not possible," was the alleged response from Arsene Wenger, which drew some laughter from the other managers present.
According to the piece, the Arsenal boss was serious in refusing to sit beside Mourinho, with the continuing dispute sure to add another layer of intrigue to Man United's clashes with the Gunners this season.
