Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has been set the challenge of recreating one of the most iconic goals in Premier League history - and he made a sensational job of replicating Thierry Henry’s famous strike against Manchester United back in 2000.

Henry’s flick and volley that looped over United keeper Fabien Barthez is often mentioned as one of the finest goals in Premier League history, yet few would have the ability to even attempt to bring the goal back to life 16 years later.

“Oh no, it’s so difficult, it’s one of the best goals,” said Cazorla, as he was presented with a clip of the goal for a BT Sport video and set his challenge. “I will try to make again, but I don’t think so.”

The Spaniard went on to surprise himself, as he served up his version of the Henry goal at the second attempt, much to his delight.

Arsenal new-boy Granit Xhaka was then set the challenge of producing a carbon copy Dejan Stankovic’s long-range strike for Inter Milan against Schalke in the UEFA Champions League in 2011 and after a couple of attempts, he also mastered the art.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez have also taken on the BT Sport challenge of recreating iconic goals and now all concerned will be hoping to score a goal or two of their own that will set the gold standard in this season’s Premier League.
