Alvaro Morata confirms he is a Real Madrid fan and hints at return to Spain

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has confirmed that he is still ‘a fan of Real Madrid’ and confirmed that he would relish the chance to return to his former club.

Morata has made a big impact at Chelsea since his summer move from Real Madrid, with his winning goal against Manchester United in the last round of Premier League matches one of the most significant of the season so far.

Yet after suggesting in an interview last month that he was struggling to adapt to life in London, which forced him to then issue a clarification insisting he was happy at Chelsea, Morata has now given an interview where he admitted he would like to make a return to Real Madrid if the circumstances were right.

“Of course I would return to Real Madrid, but it’s complicated,” Morata told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.

“I told the coach I wanted to play more. That I wanted to go is foolishness. I felt important for Madrid, but I wanted to play in the Champions League knockout stages.

“I’ve never said a bad word of Madrid nor will I say it. Always I wish them the best. I’m a fan of Madrid, but a Chelsea player.”

Morata went on to suggest he missed the Spanish sunshine, but insisted he is getting used to life in London despite being annoyed by the traffic jams.

“We have adapted well in London,” he added. “When I arrived I got used to not having time to think much. At the beginning, it was not all the good that was expected. My wife has helped me a lot.

“Before, when I lost, I was locked in my thoughts. Now I take it differently. I have a calmer life. There is more traffic jams than in Madrid. I miss the weather but the sun rises."
