FORMER Bohemians left-back Conor Powell is set to join League One side Colchester United on an 18-month deal.
The highly rated 23-year-old parted company with the Gypsies at the end of the League of Ireland season to seek professional employment elsewhere.
Powell was assessed by clubs in England, with Reading and Doncaster expressing an interest in his services without following through on it. However, he sufficiently impressed Colchester boss John Ward, who offered the Portmarnock native and former Belvedere player an 18-month contract.
Marc Tierney, Colchester's first- choice left-back, is expected to leave the Essex club in the transfer window. The club have already turned down two bids from an unnamed Championship club.
Meanwhile, Dublin-born Hull City midfielder Jamie Devitt will put pen to paper on a new two-and-a-half- year contract today.
The 20-year-old has broken into the first-team picture this year after spending the majority of last season on loan.
Manager Nigel Pearson believes the Cherry Orchard product can be an important player for the Tigers in the coming years.
