porto boss NOT FOR iNTER
THE MOST popular rising star in European club management, Porto's Andre Villas-Boas (Right) will not become the new coach of Inter Milan, partly because of an expensive release clause in his contract, Inter's sporting director Marco Branca said yesterday.
Media reports said Branca had flown to talk with the coach of the Portuguese and Europa League champions after current boss Leonardo signalled he was quitting Inter for a less stressful sporting director role at Paris St Germain.
"The presence in his contract of a very expensive break clause among other things excludes the possibility of him sitting on the Inter bench," Branca said in a statement on Inter's website.
Meanwhile, the former Argentina manager Marcelo Bielsa has ruled himself out of the running after initial talks, while England manager Fabio Capello and Fiorentina boss Sinisa Mihajlovic have distanced themselves from the role at the San Siro as the 2010 European champions go in search of their fourth coach in just over a year.
