Former Cork City striker Sean Maguire had another impressive outing for Preston in the Championship tonight, netting a key goal to help secure a 3-0 win over Cardiff.

The win vaults Alex Neil's men into the playoff places, and represents a decent scalp, with Cardiff currently occupying second place in the table.

Josh Harrop put the home side in front before Maguire gave his team a bit of breathing space with twenty minutes to go, with Cork's Alan Browne sealing a big win with a goal from the centre circle following a botched clearance.

It was Maguire's second Championship goal, having got off the mark in Preston's 1-1 draw with Barnsley last Saturday.

There have been calls for Maguire to be elevated into the Republic of Ireland team for next month's final two World Cup qualifiers, with the striker still waiting to make his international debut.
