Raheem Sterling got the only goal as Liverpool saw off Olympiacos 1-0 in a friendly last night.

The Kop frontman pounced in the fifth minute to slot home after good work from Daniel Sturridge in a match that saw new signings Emre Can, Rickie Lambert and Lazar Markovic all make appearances.

"I was delighted with the team," said Liverpool Manager Brendan Rodgers after the match. "As the preseason goes on, we will be getting sharper with our movements and some of our passing. At this moment in time you really build up some of the players' resistance in getting time under their belt.

"We started the first half very, very well," Rodgers added. "Passing was crisp and precise. We scored a very good goal with a threat at the top end of the field in a combination play and on the attack."

Liverpool: Johnson (Kelly 63'), Enrique (Robinson 46'), Toure (Coates 63'), Jones, Gerrard (Leiva 63') , Henderson, Sturridge (Lambert 75'), Can (Allen 46'), Sterling (Ibe 75'), Skrtel, Markovic (Coutinho 46').
