Video: Cologne vow to clamp down on masked hooligans following nasty derby clashes

Bundesliga club Cologne will attempt to identify and sanction fans responsible for flares and on-pitch clashes with police after Saturday's Rhine derby defeat at Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Masked Cologne supporters wearing white overalls stormed the pitch after Granit Xhaka's injury-time winner for 'Gladbach, leading to violent scuffles that left several security staff and one police officer injured. Two arrests were made and some fans were identified.

Cologne says on its website that it is "disappointed and angered" by the disturbances that "cause massive harm to Cologne and the majority of Cologne's fans".

Promising "tough action," the club adds: "Whoever claims to be a Cologne fan and behaves like this does not understand the basic rules of football and is not wanted."
