La Liga holders Barcelona sit top of the table for the first time this season after a 3-0 win at Eibar.

Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann all got on the scoresheet for the first time together in the win.

Coach Ernesto Valverde welcomed the performances of his forwards.

"It's a question of time and games. In the end, the top players always end up playing well together and learn how they need to play to get the best out of each other," he said.

Real Madrid's 1-0 defeat at Mallorca sees them slip to second.

In Italy, Inter Milan's thrilling 4-3 victory away to Sassuolo yesterday keeps them within touching distance of league leaders Juventus.

The Turin giants beat Bologna 2-1 on Saturday to ensure they finished the weekend in pole position.

There is just two points separating top spot from ninth in Germany after Marco Reus' goal gave Dortmund the three points against leaders Monchengladbach.

Wolfsburg's 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig means they are now level on 16 points with Monchengladbach while Leipzig sit a point below, tied with Bayern Munich and Dortmund.

Schalke's 2-0 loss to Hoffenheim yesterday prevented them from going top, instead remaining in seventh, such is the claustrophobic nature of the higher end of the table.
