Roy Keane to return to former club for one game only
Republic of Ireland assistant manager Roy Keane will return to his old stomping ground where he will be on the line in a coaching capacity for Cobh Ramblers as part of a charity fundraiser.
The former Ireland and Manchester United captain played briefly for the club before he was snapped up by Nottingham Forest manager Brian Clough in the summer of 1990.
Keane will be back on Leeside today as a coach for the fundraising game between the current Springfield junior team and a team consisting of ex-Cobh Ramblers players.
The game takes place this Friday at St Colman’s Park in Cobh with a 7:30pm KO. Tickets are €5 and children have free entry with all proceeds going to the Cobh Hospital development.
Keane has been linked with the vacant managerial role at Aston Villa following the dismissal of Paul Lambert last night. He had been installed as Lambert's assistant in the summer before he quit to concentrate on his international role.
