Ryan Manning marked his return to the QPR team with a significant goal to halt Aston Villa's promotion charge.

The Galwegian, who had fallen out of favour with Ian Holloway, opened the scoring in QPR's 3-1 win at Villa Park in his first start since October - his only three appearances thusfar in 2018 had been three brief sub cameos that totalled six minutes and featured one sending off.

Defeat leaves Villa seven points off second-placed Cardiff who registered a significant 3-1 success away to Brentford.

Wolves remain three points clear of Cardiff after a brace from Matt Doherty helped them to a comfortable 3-0 Molineux success over Reading.

It was a good night for Irish full backs, with Enda Stevens - who has also been called into Martin O'Neill's squad for next week's trip to Turkey - on target for play-off chasing Sheffield United in their routine 2-0 dismissal of Burton Albion.

It was a miserable night for Mick McCarthy's Ipswich with relegation threatened Hull striking three goals and taking three points from their trip to Portman Road.
