Irish soccer star Stephanie Roche believes she still has a future in professional soccer, but admits it will be difficult to pick up the pieces after her American dream came to a premature end, writes Declan Whooley.

The 25-year-old striker was released by Houston Dash after making just two substitute appearances, but said the decision to cancel her contract was purely a business decision.

Writing in the Irish Independent today, Stephanie says: "Houston's decision to release me wasn't about my ability as a player. There is no sentiment involved. It's all business."

The 2014 Fifa Puskás Award runner-up said she was convinced she was still good enough to succeed. "I'm determined to keep going and would love another shot at this league," she said.
