Former Ireland youth international captain Noe Baba has signed for Championship side Birmingham City.

Cameroon-born Baba (19) first rose to prominence at Castlebar Celtic and captained Ireland U17s before also going on to represent his country at U19 level.

The powerful defender joined Fulham in January 2013, but was released by manager Kit Symons after two years at the club.

The teenager joins the Midland's side on a 12-month contract.

“Noe has been in with a few Championship clubs during pre-season, including Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham, but is delighted to sign with Birmingham," his agent Dave Berber told

“He was on the bench for one of the first-team pre-season friendlies and while he has only spent two weeks at the club, has settled in very quickly with the club."

Baba told that he's looking to kicking on his career with Blues.

"I've been training here for the last month and it's been very good," he said.

"I'm very pleased and I think it's a very good opportunity for me.

"I just want to kick on and start again with something I love doing."

His younger brother Thierry was capped by Ireland at U15 level last year.
