Fulham midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe has been suspended for two games and fined for tweeting an offensive message about Patrick Bamford's sexuality.
The 22-year-old, who admitted a FA charge of "aggravated misconduct by reference to sexual orientation", will miss the first two games of the new season while paying a fine of £5,000.
Tunnicliffe published a tweet containing a homophobic slur about Chelsea striker Bamford following Middlesbrough's promotion final play-off defeat to Norwich in May. Bamford was on loan with Boro last season.
The FA said Tunnicliffe, a former Manchester United youth team player, would also attend a mandatory education course.
