Doyle explains Pompey exit
Dubliner Michael Doyle has explained why he left League Two champions Portsmouth to join a Coventry side that is on its way down to that level.
Doyle (35) says he was told by Pompey boss Paul Cook that he would get a new contract but no offer was on the table when he went in to meet the club earlier this week.
"Coventry made it clear that they really wanted me," said Doyle, who has signed for a second spell with the club. "The manager (Mark Robins) seemed like he was desperate to get me."
Former Irish international Stephen Kelly has been let go by Rotherham after their relegation from the Championship.
