Confirmed: Liverpool and Napoli to play friendly in Dublin this August
Liverpool will be returning to Dublin for a second successive year for a pre-season glamour friendly against Napoli at Aviva Stadium on Saturday, August 4, it has been confirmed.
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis last week told Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport that his side will take on Liverpool in Ireland and now the FAI has confirmed the match will go ahead.
Jurgen Klopp's side met Athletic Bilbao at the same venue last August and won the match 3-1, courtesy of goals from Roberto Firmino, Ben Woodburn and Dominic Solanke.
The Reds could go into this August's friendly as European Champions while Napoli, who face Juventus this Sunday, will be hoping to travel to Dublin as Scudetto holders.
There will be an official announcement of the match at 11.30 am on Monday at Aviva Stadium, where Liverpool's all-time record goalscorer Ian Rush will be in attendance.
