Celtic have swooped to sign 15-year-old Irish wonderkid Ben Quinn, the nephew of former senior internationals Alan and Stephen Quinn.

The Cherry Orchard youngster and his parents were yesterday invited into the boardroom at Parkhead by chief executive Peter Lawwell to complete a deal which will see him to Glasgow in January to start full-time training.

The Bhoys beat up competition from a number of leading English Premier League clubs to recruit the pacy winger.

He follows teens Tommy Caffrey and Barry Coffey to Lennoxtown as the third current Irish signing recommended by Dublin-based scout Eugene McGee.

The latest member of the Quinn dynasty first came to prominence at last June’s SFAI Kennedy Cup tournament in Limerick.

His hat-trick in the final against Kildare helped the Dublin District Schoolboys’ League claim victory at the 32-team national competition.

Since then, he’s nailed down a spot in the Ireland U-15 team, scoring the only goal of the November win in Poland.
