Barrett honoured at league awards
Peamount United striker Amber Barrett took top honours at the Continental Tyres Women's National League awards yesterday.
Barrett collected the Player of the Year and Golden Boot awards at the ceremony after a 16-goal campaign which propelled her into Colin Bell's Ireland senior squad.
She landed the top gong ahead of Sunday's FAI Cup final hero Clare Shine of Cork and UCD Waves midfielder Karen Duggan. Cork's Saoirse Noonan collected the Young Player of the Year award.
Picking up the award is small consolation for Barrett after her side lost out on the league title to Wexford.
"I've got to thank all of my team-mates and the staff at Peamount United who've really helped me find another level this season and has helped me break into the international team as well," said Barrett.
"I'm positive we'll bounce back next season and provide another title challenge."
