AINE O'GORMAN bagged a hat-trick as Peamount United claimed the FAI Umbro Women's Cup for the first time with a thrilling victory over Salthill Devon at Tolka Park.

Salthill took the lead in the ninth minute when Lucy Hannon fired to the roof of the net after an Emer Flatley corner flew across the Peamount goalmouth.

Peamount drew level less than a minute later when O'Gorman got to the end line and cut back from Ruth Comerford to finish from 10 yards.

The Galway side regained the lead in the 33rd minute when Jenny Critchley brilliantly chipped home from just inside the box.

Five minutes later, O'Gorman forced another equaliser after bursting in from the left and her low strike squirmed under the body of Salthill 'keeper Tina Hughes before trickling into the net.

Hughes made two stunning stops to deny O'Gorman further goals before the break.

Critchley had a chance to restore Salthill's lead in the 50th minute, but Peamount 'keeper Linda Meehan made a brilliant save to keep out her low shot.

O'Gorman put the Dubliners ahead for the first time in the 62nd minute when she volleyed home spectacularly after a lay-off from Rachel Jenkins.

Irish international O'Gorman completed her hat-trick eight minutes later when she ran onto a long pass by Jennifer Murphy and raced through to slot home.
