Nzingo and Cregan secure title for DDSL
DDSL 2, NDSL 0
THE Dublin District Schoolboy League (DDSL) retained the SFAI Kennedy Cup after a deserved victory over the North Dublin District League (NDSL) at Limerick University.
Goals from Mike Nzingo and Michael Cregan in either half secured the DDSL's 11th title this century.
Nzingo latched on to a Shane Stokes cross from the left 18 minutes in and drove a low shot past NDSL keeper Oisin McCarthy.
The NDSL responded via the lively Sam Ennis, who saw his flashing header from a Sean Cronin free-kick well saved by Ethan Farrell.
The DDSL should have doubled their advantage immediately after the break, with Stokes, influential captain Daniel McKenna and Joel Bekomba all going close.
Cregan put more daylight between the sides with 11 minutes remaining. The DDSL midfielder, one of 11 St Kevin's Boys players in both squads, drifted past two defenders and fired home from a tight angle.
"The squad worked very hard for this and we're absolutely delighted with the win, said DDSL manager Martin Doyle. "I would like to congratulate the NDSL. They battled us all the way and gave a fine performance."
