Next Irish cap distant vision for Madden

Paddy Madden's career graph over the past 12 months is baffling -- it seems absurd that a Wembley star in May and a first-time Irish international who impressed in August could wind up in League Two by January.
But it also illustrates the extent to which his row with Gary Johnson left the Dubliner in a fairly desperate position. He should fire the goals to ensure that he is back at League One level by August and, in all likelihood, Yeovil will be back there as well at that juncture.
However, this was the season that Madden was supposed to make an impact at Championship level, so the Scunthorpe switch is still a case of two steps back with a view to taking one forward. Against Wales, he looked like he was capable of adding to his debut Irish cap. That's a distant vision now.
