New Cristiano Ronaldo bust is revealed...and this one actually looks like him
The bronze bust of Cristiano Ronaldo that stands at the Madeira airport named in his honour became the subject of universal ridicule when it was unveiled earlier this year, but a new version has hit the mark in a more positive manner.
The Ronaldo bust produced in his Portuguese homeland became an social media sensational for all the wrong reasons when it was presented to the world in March, with many believing the face looked a little more like former Ireland striker Niall Quinn than the Portugal and Real Madrid superstar it was meant to pay homage to.
Yet a new bust that will be placed in the Real Madrid club museum and created by Spanish sculptor Jose Antonio Navarro Arteaga is much more impressive.
"I used several photos of Cristiano to work from," the creator told Spanish newspaper El Mundo. "What I wanted to reflect was his interior strength, when he was preparing to take a free kick or a corner."
Ronaldo may be tempted to asked for a second version of this bronze bust to be produced to replace the disaster that is still in place at Madeira airport as this version paints him in a far more flattering light:
Famous artist from Sevilla, Navarro Arteago's son was so upset by the original Cristiano Ronaldo bust that he begged his father to make a better one which is now on show at Real Madrid C.F.'s museum. (El Mundo) pic.twitter.com/SUjzJSPQWR— Abdullah (@iamAbdullah342) November 26, 2017
