Mjallby stands down as Celtic assistant

Celtic fans were taken aback last night by the news that Johan Mjallby will leave the club at the end of the season. The former Sweden centre-back, who played alongside Neil Lennon at Parkhead and has been the manager's assistant since the Lurgan man succeeded Tony Mowbray in March 2010, said he would seek "different opportunities".

Another likely factor is the absence of his family, who have been back in Sweden for almost a year. "I have enormous affection for Celtic Football Club and it is with sadness that the time to leave has arrived," he said.
