Liverpool set to splash out £8m for Bertrand
Brendan Rodgers is ready to make a renewed bid to sign Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand.
The Liverpool manager will target the England international for a second time when the transfer window reopens in January, with a new left-back a priority at Anfield after Jose Enrique's knee injury.
Enrique is expected to be unavailable until February after surgery to cure a persistent knee problem and Bertrand is likely to figure highly on Rodgers's list of potential replacements.
Chelsea could demand around £8m for the defender, who signed a five-year contract worth £35,000 a week in September.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will today receive the scan results on the muscle injury suffered by Samuel Eto'o during the Champions League defeat by Basel on Tuesday. If he is sidelined for a lengthy period, it will test Chelsea's attacking options.
