Everton took a major step towards the knockout stages of the Europa League as goals from Leon Osman, Phil Jagielka and Steven Naismith saw them claim a comfortable victory over Lille at Goodison Park.

The Toffees took a deserved lead in the 27th minute when Osman - on the same day it was announced he had agreed a one-year extension to his contract - rifled the ball past Vincent Enyeama.

Jagielka headed home a sublime cross by Aiden McGeady to double their advantage three minutes before the interval and then Naismith struck the third in the 61st minute.

Darron Gibson got in some more game time ahead of Ireland's Euro showdown with Scotland next week when he came on for Gareth Barry.
