Twigg signs deal with Portadown
GARY Twigg has officially completed his transfer from Shamrock Rovers to Portadown.
The Scot brought down the curtain on four wonderful years in Tallaght by scoring a brace in Friday's win over league champions Sligo.
He lives in Northern Ireland and wants to play his football there so he can spend more time his family. Twigg has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Portadown, but won't be eligible to play for them until January.
Kierans 'confident' Dundalk can triumph
DUNDALK boss Darius Kierans is hoping that his side's 2-1 victory over Bray in their concluding league match can give them the confidence to come out on top of their promotion-relegation play-off with Waterford.
The teams meet at Oriel Park in tonight's first leg, with the return at the RSC on Friday.
"It has been a disastrous season from the get-go," he admits. "It's not the ideal scenario to be in, particularly for a club of our stature. But we're confident. There is a belief within the squad that we can win the play-off."
The Louthmen are without Bob McKenna while Derek Foran, Gary Shanahan and Paul Walsh are injury doubts. Waterford travel minus the suspended Seamus Long and John Frost.
