Patrick Hoban will return to Dundalk following a spell in England as the Lilywhites strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

Hoban left Dundalk for Oxford in 2014 after his 20 goals helped Stephen Kenny's men to the League title.

However, he failed to make an impact with the League Two side and spent time on loan with Stevanage and Grimsby before signing for Mansfield last season where he scored six goals in 24 games.

Dundalk have also confirmed the signings of centre-half Stephen Folan from Galway and Dean Jarvis, a full back, from Derry City.

Stephen Kenny is still battling to try and hold on to Patrick McEleney and David McMillan.

The latter has a contract offer on the table from St Johnstone, while McEleney is keeping his options open and has spoken with League One side Blackburn Rovers about a move across the water.

He has interest from other English teams at that level and his hometown club Derry City but Dundalk still feel they have a chance of keeping the talented 25-year-old.

Midfielder Robbie Benson was also the subject of interest from the UK but it's now considered more likely that he will pen a new deal.
