Ciaran Kelly, with his first goal for the club, and Mikey Drennan’s sixth of the season kept St Pat’s on a roll at Richmond Park.

A third victory on the spin capped a good week for Harry Kenny’s Inchicore side after confirmation on Thursday that they will play in the Europa League this summer.

Kenny now brings his in-form side to faltering league leaders Shamrock Rovers on Monday.

St Pat’s started the brighter with UCD having to thank goalkeeper Conor Kearns for a brilliant reaction save on 16 minutes.

Simon Madden skipped away on the right and picked out Ian Bermingham with a sublime cross.

Somehow, though, Kearns got down to palm away the Saints’ skipper’s low shot.

Kearns was worked again five minutes before half-time.

Rhys McCabe’s ball over the top put Drennan in behind to unleash an angled drive that forced a parry save.

UCD enjoyed good possession from the restart with skipper Gary O’Neill having a shot bravely blocked by defender Kelly.

Having done his defensive duty, Kelly made the decisive contribution at the other on 59 minutes to put St Pat’s ahead.

Kelly rose to get a header to Drennan’s corner which Kearns could only help into his net.

Drennan sealed the points on 85 minutes, scooping home the rebound after Kearns parried a shot from substitute Darragh Markey.
