Josh O’Hanlon scored with his first touch as St Pat’s came from behind against 10-man Shamrock Rovers to get their first win of the season to lift themselves off the foot of the Premier Division table.

Rovers started well, deserving of a 13th minute lead when Gary Shaw tapped home James Doona’s low cross.

But the dynamic of the game changed on 34 minutes when Hoops’ left-back Sean Heaney was sent off for a second booking before Tomer Chencinski kept Rovers ahead at the break with a stunning save from Conan Byrne’s 42nd minute free-kick.

St Pat’s pressure told on 59 minutes when substitute Kurtis Byrne hooked home JJ Lunney’s diagonal ball in from the right to equalise.

Fellow substitute O’Hanlon then won it for the hosts on 76 minutes, heading home a Conan Byrne corner seconds after coming on.
