Rafter's winner keeps Derry on track

Derry City 2 Bohemians 1

Derry City maintained their good run with a hard-fought win over Bohemians at the Brandywell.

The home side made the breakthrough on eight minutes when Patrick McEleney, after good work from Simon Madden on the flank, netted to round off a headline-making week.

Derry continued to dominate, but four minutes before the break, Bohs equalised.

A cross from Michael Barker in behind the Derry defence saw Ryan McEvoy hook the ball back across the goal for Kevin Devanney, who tapped in from close range.

Derry started the second half strongly and within nine minutes they had their reward, again thanks to the quality of Madden.

The Derry full-back received the ball on the right before beating Ciaran Nangle and whipping over a low cross, which Michael Rafter diverted past Dean Delany to restore the hosts' lead.
