Rafter strikes Derry clincher

Derry City 2 Bray Wanderers 0

BRAY Wanderers will feel they missed out on a chance to gain a valuable point, as they had enough clear-cut chances at the Brandywell.

In the end, Derry's clinical finishes were the difference as Declan Devine's side raced in front after just four minutes.

Ruaidhri Higgins' drilled cross picked out an unmarked David McDaid, who made no mistake as he headed home from six yards.

Minutes later Bray were denied a leveller when Gerard Doherty pushed away Ismahil Akinade's long-range strike.

The crucial second goal for City came on 77 minutes when Patrick McEleney's sublime through ball sent Michael Rafter clear and he made no mistake when side-footing home.
