Premier Division newcomers Waterford have shopped abroad to bring in former Ajax player Stanley Aborah

The 30-year-old Belgian-Ghanaian made his senior breakthrough with the Dutch giants under Ronald Koeman back in the 2004/05 campaign, making five appearances alongside stars such as Rafael van der Vaart, Wesley Sneijder and Nigel De Jong.

Aborah left the club in 2006, however, and has spent the past 12 years moving around with spells in Belgium, Holland, Slovenia and Hungary on his CV.

He joined Notts County in 2015 and spent two years there before a brief stint with Portsmouth.

He has now joined up with Alan Reynolds side ahead of the forthcoming League of Ireland season.

Elsewhere, Limerick have bolstered their ranks with experienced local players with ex-Waterford and Cork City striker Mark O'Sullivan coming on board.

New boss Tommy Barrett has also re-signed old favourite Shaun Kelly.
