Sligo Rovers battled to a hard-earned first win of the season, overcoming derby rivals Finn Harps in Ballybofey.

Romeo Parkes and Kris Twardek netted to give Liam Buckley's side the win.

Sligo hit the front on 18 minutes when Parkes, put through by Twardek, sped away, rounded Harps 'keeper Peter Burke and tucked home.

Sligo doubled their lead just three minutes into the second half when Twardek prodded in from Jack Keaney's delicious corner.

Harps hit back when Daniel O'Reilly rose to meet Caolan McAleer's corner and powered beyond Mitchell Beeney.

Parkes had a chance to put the game beyond Harps' reach, but headed wide while O'Reilly deflected away from Dante Deverok, who seemed set to net.
