O'Connor puts Limerick through
Limerick FC 1 Finn Harps 0
Limerick FC manager Neil McDonald hailed his team's patience as they clinched a narrow victory over 10-man Finn Harps to advance to the last eight of the FAI Cup.
David O'Connor netted the winning goal on 65 minutes in a dull match that the home side dominated.
McDonald reflected: "They're a very difficult team to play against, as we found out earlier in the season when I first came, and they're certainly a difficult team to play against when they go down to 10 men.
"Whoever you play against with 10 men, it's always difficult. We just had to keep that patience and wait for the one really good end product, which we got. We're through to the next round, which is all we wanted."
Finn Harps were fighting an uphill battle after Caolan McAleer was sent off for kicking out at O'Connor in the first half, and Finn Harps assistant manager Paul Hegarty was not impressed with the midfielder.
Hegarty said: "Apparently he's kicked out at the fella and maybe on another day it's a yellow card, but today it was a red card. If that's what he's done, he deserves to be sent off and he's absolutely killed us.
"He's probably going to get a three-match suspension and he's only back after two matches suspended, which is shocking."
