O'Connor on the mark

BRAY secured their second win of the season courtesy of a second-half header from Danny O'Connor at the UCD Bowl.

After a first half devoid of any meaningful chances, the only goal of the game came in the 69th minute, when O'Connor headed home Joe Kendrick's left-footed free-kick from eight yards.

Shane O'Neill almost doubled Bray's lead a minute later with a lob that was just inches too high.

If the 453 in attendance expected a high-scoring affair, the fact that the teams had scored just five goals between them so far this season told its own story.

UCD huffed and puffed as they searched for an equaliser. Matt Gregg saved from his own centre-back Adam Mitchell before UCD sub Yael Haro flashed a powerful shot just wide after a Paul Corry cross, and then Gregg saved well from Robbie Creavy.

UCD -- Barron, Harding (O'Connor 92), Nangle, Boyle, Leahy, Corry, O'Conor, Creavy, Marshall, Belhout (Haro 68), Rusk.

Bray -- Gregg, Webster, Kendrick, Mitchell, Prendergast, Mulroy (Houston 89), Kelly, Dempsey, O'Connor, O'Neill (McGuinness 85), Kelly (Massey 77)

Ref -- Anthony Buttimer (Cork).
