A Nigerian teenager has landed a trial with Cork City after a Twitter post begging the Irish club to give him a chance surpassed 50,000 retweets.

Richard Ali Son asked Cork yesterday how many retweets he would need to get his chance at Turner's Cross, with Cork replying "50,000".

Then Twitter sprung into action with the likes of Carl Frampton among the 50,000 who retweeted to hit the target.

Cork confirmed on the social media platform that they have sent an email to Ali Son "with the information required so we can help with with his visa for the trial".
