Drogheda United's O'Brien brothers were both villainous and heroic at Hunky Dorys Park last night as Mark was sent off before Colin sealed a precious victory over UCD.
The duo combined with some slick passing to set up Tiarnan Mulvenna for the opening goal just before the break.
Graham Rusk equalised for the Students but Mulvenna restored Drogs' lead before Mark O'Brien saw red and brother Colin finished the job.
Mulvenna broke the deadlock four minutes from the break. The move was instigated by a one-two involving the O'Brien brothers, and Colin's cross was turned in by Mulvenna.
The students levelled on 57 minutes when a Dean Marshall corner found Rusk nodded home from close range. Drogheda restored their advantage when Dinny Corcoran's pass released Mulvenna and he finished decisively.
Mark O'Brien earned two yellow cards in quick succession with 10 minutes left. However, Drogs sealed all three points in stoppage-time when Colin O'Brien broke and fired home.
