Keith Long admits that his Bohemians side lacked belief and deserved no more than what they got from a first home game of the season where what looked like a cast-iron win ended up in a draw.

Bohs punished some slack defending from newly-promoted Longford by taking a 2-0 lead after just 26 minutes, a neat finish from Georgie Kelly and a similar strike from Ross Tierney. Longford needed saves from Lee Steacy to restrict Bohs to two goals and Kelly could have made that 3-0 early in the second half, only for his shot to come off the post, but Bohs allowed their stranglehold on the match ebb away as Longford finished far stronger.

“It was a poor showing in the second half, though we weren’t too pleased with the first half either, we didn’t play with tempo and at this moment in time we look like a team that lacks cohesion, and that’s something we have to try and put right.

A point from Dalymount, added to last week’s win over Derry City, shows that Longford have the potential to compete in the top flight. “We deserve to be here, we came to the Premier the hard way, through the playoffs, we want to be here and compete and show we mean business, that we don’t fear anyone and no one will get an easy game against us,” says manager Doyle.
