Ledwith helps UCD prevail

Late goals from Danny Ledwith and Graham Rusk eased UCD into the third round as Leinster Senior League side Phoenix were outplayed at the UCD Bowl.

Paul O'Conor opened the scoring for UCD with a good finish on 27 minutes, but Phoenix levelled after 33 minutes when Keith Dawson slotted home a penalty.

Ledwith curled home a free-kick to restore UCD's lead on 75 minutes and Rusk added the third on 81 minutes.

UCD -- McGinley; Ledwith, D O'Connor (Douglas 83), Leahy, Nangle; Belhout (Clarke 65 ), P O'Conor, Corry, Benson, Burke (Langtry 65); Rusk.

Phoenix -- Murphy; Sheridan, Philips, Kearns, Kelly; Gleeson, Cooney, Wade, Brophy (Kennedy, 75 mins.); Giffney (Swan 73); Dawson (Ianolli 82).
