Lacklustre Cork progress at Wexford's expense

Wexford Youths 0 Cork City 2

Goals at the end of each half from Billy Dennehy and Mark O'Sullivan took a lacklustre Cork City past a depleted Wexford Youths at Ferrycarrig Park.

Youths threatened early on, with Aidan Keenan forcing a good save from Mark McNulty.

Cork went ahead in first-half stoppage-time when Dennehy got the ball on the edge of the area and rocketed a great shot across Graham Doyle into the far corner.

The uninspiring football continued after the break, with neither keeper troubled until Eric Molloy had a fine 58th-minute shot well saved by McNulty.

City seemed content to sit on their lead until three minutes from the end when sub O'Sullivan knocked the rebound into an empty net after Doyle had saved his initial effort.
