Kilduff on double for UCD

Drogheda United 0 UCD 3

opening night evidence suggests UCD may enjoy their return to the higher echelons of the domestic game.

The Students ruled vast chunks of the first half. Three minutes in, Ciaran Kilduff headed a Sean Harding cross over as UCD signalled their intent.

Kilduff was then denied by the crossbar in the 17th minute, and the former Shamrock Rovers youngster drilled a shot wide on 31 minutes following a deft Chris Mulhall pass.

UCD spurned further chances before Kilduff eventually bagged a deserved goal in the 65th minute, scorching past Jamie Harris before tucking his finish under Paul Skinner to give UCD the lead.

Emboldened by Kilduff's strike, the visitors doubled their advantage in the 72nd minute as Graham Rusk found Greg Bolger and the energetic midfielder converted expertly from 14 yards.

Kilduff embellished the victory with a third in the last minute on a harrowing night for Drogheda.
