Kavanagh screamer seals the deal
Crusaders 1 Cork City 3 (Cork win 4-1 on agg)
CORK City secured their place in the semi-finals with an easy win in Belfast.
Crusaders were the better team for the first hour, but missed chances cost them.
With the hosts piling on the pressure in search of the equaliser, they left themselves open to a sucker punch and that duly arrived in the 63rd minute. Denis Behan crossed the ball into the box for Daryl Horgan to side-foot home from 15 yards.
Crusaders went two behind when Daryl Kavanagh scored a phenomenal goal in the 67th minute, curling home an angled effort 25 yards out.
Crusaders pulled one back from Paul Heatley in the 89th minute, but Cork scored a third in injury-time when Davy Magowan headed the ball into his own net.
In truth, nothing after Horgan's 63rd-minute goal matter. It was that effort that killed the tie and ended Crusaders' hopes of repeating May's incredible feat at The Oval.
