Kavanagh joins Hoops
Damien Duff played a key role in getting former Ireland U-21 international Sean Kavanagh to join Shamrock Rovers.
The versatile 24-year-old, who is equally at home at left-back or midfield, had been training with Derry as his exit from Fulham was processed only for Rovers to make a move for him ahead of tomorrow's Irish deadline on Duff's recommendation.
Duff was playing for Fulham when Kavanagh joined the London club from Belvedere and quickly became impressed.
"I was really close to joining Derry, but I'm a Dublin boy and once Rovers came calling it was an easy decision," said Kavanagh, who made 23 first-team appearances for Fulham.
"Damien was always good to me when he was at Fulham and I'm looking forward to catching up."
Meanwhile, Cork City have signed 18-year-old English attacker Michael Howard on loan from Preston.
Dundalk are on look-out for an extra striker and they are in discussions with Nigerian-Italian Marco Tagbajumi. The 29-year-old played in Norway last year with Lillestrom.
